This authentic American Art Nouveau jewelry casket or trinket box was manufactured by the renowned Brainard & Wilson Co. of Danbury, Connecticut, circa 1904.

Stamped on the base with the authentic "B & W" maker's mark and mold pattern number "111", this piece features a beautifully detailed, embossed "Harvest Grapes" and trailing vine motif. The cast metal exterior retains its beautiful, original matte "Roman Gold" electroplated finish with a wonderful, untouched historic patina.

Interior Details & Condition:The interior remains in its authentic, unrestored "as-found" condition. The lid retains its original light green/sage silk satin tufted lining framed with a twisted cord trim. The bottom section's silk covering has worn away from a century of use, completely exposing the original soft cotton batting padding underneath.

Exceptional structural condition for its age. The lid sits completely flush and aligns perfectly against the lower base with no warping or gaps. The rear hinge is entirely original, firmly attached, and functions smoothly with no messy solder or glue repairs. The base is completely sound with clear maker stamps, all four feet intact, and no cracks to the metal casting. The gold finish displays a beautiful, authentic aged patina with honest surface wear, deep-crevice contrast, and small dark oxidation/verdigris spots typical of century-old spelter metal.
